The University of Mining and Technology Ostrava (VŠB–TUO), founded in 1951, is a leading Czech university of technology with a strong industrial and scientific focus. It educates approximately 14,000 students in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. Its top priorities include research in nanotechnology, materials engineering, the environment and industrial digitalization, including sensor development, battery cleaning and geomicrobial technologies. VŠB–TUO is also home to NanoOstrava and the Center for Nanotechnology (CEET), which organizes international conferences, provides laboratory facilities and coordinates cooperation with industrial partners and cluster initiatives such as Nanoprogress. For doctoral students, it offers a unique international Nanotechnology – cotutelle program with dual supervision and diploma, supporting interdisciplinary connections with top foreign universities.
